Frequently Asked Questions
Not yet! We hope to be eventually. Right now, the farm operates seasonally from spring through fall. Our produce is available between June and November.
Our blueberries are available every summer in July – usually about mid month. Our berry season is fairly short though so make sure to get some while you can!
Yes! Feel free to shop online or purchase in-store as of June 1. If you require curbside pick up, just give us a call at 1 (604) 856-6310.
No. In fact, a common misperception about organic farming is that we do not use any sprays or that farms who claim to be “no spray” are organic when they are not.
We use various sprays to apply nutrients or as a preventative treatment for pests / disease but all of the sprays we use are approved for organic use. Using the right organic sprays ensures healthy plants and soil, as well as nutritious products that are free from bugs or other diseases.
No. Farms and the crops they produce can only be considered organic if they are certified by a third party company accredited by the CFIA. If a farm is claiming to be organic, you can simply ask them who they are certified by. Myers Organic Farms is certified by Pro-Cert.
No. Definitely not. We are also non-GMO.
Great question! We try to keep our pricing as low as possible but organic farming is just more expensive than conventional farming. We carefully source everything from our seeds and soil nutrients to our fertilizers and sprays, and we must ensure that everything we use meets the principles of organic farming and the strict organic standards set out by our certifier and the Standards Council of Canada.
One of the most significant expenses for us is weeding. While conventional farms can deal with weeds using glyphosate sprays, we do not. We have a large staff team who tend to the fields; we are able to do some mechanical weeding but it is primarily done by hand. Weeding by hand takes a lot of time but it is one of the reasons that our plants are also so much healthier than fields that have been treated with harsh chemicals or sprays.
Organic produce is more expensive, but it is a really healthy choice that offers more nutrition and we hope you will taste the difference.
Our retail store is fully accessible, but some parts of the farm and the parking lot have gravel or uneven terrain.
